My name is Nancy Sidnam, and I’m a registered dietitian nutritionist and wellness coach. You can learn more about me, my credentials, and my story here.
I created The Wellie Project because I was craving a place where I could share my wellness journey with the world, and at the same time I also wanted to inspire other girls to start their own wellness journeys.
The truth is, I really needed a resource like this when I was your age, but I didn’t know it at the time. And I didn’t figure it out until I was 24 and burned out from not taking care of my health. I had ignored my body's signals for too long, and I finally decided it was time to make some big changes. Part of that change included going back to grad school so I could pursue my passion for nutrition and become a dietitian. The other part included taking steps to make my health a priority, and figuring out what the heck that even meant!
Now I’ve finally created that resource I needed when I was younger, and I hope that it can help those of you who need it today. It’s truly meant for any and every girl who wants to feel healthy, confident, connected, and happy. It’s for the women you’ll be tomorrow- the dreamers, doers, movers, shakers and world-changers. It’s for the teenage me and the adult me. It’s for my future daughters, and it’s for the next generation of young girls. And it’s for two girls named Ruby and Eliza, who inspired me to do this.
If you take only one thing from this website, let it be this: don’t wait until later to make your health a priority. Do it now. No one else is going to do it for you. Yeah, you’re young, and yeah, you’ve technically “got time,” but what you do or don’t do now can have an influence on your adult life, like, big time. Trust me on this.
So this is your official call to action. I want you to grab your life as hard as you can with your own two hands and declare that you are taking charge TODAY. You already have all the strength you need, and it's inside of you just waiting to be ignited. I hope that The Wellie Project will provide the spark to help you get started.
The most beautiful thing about wellness is that it’s never too late or too soon to start. And the way I see it, we’re all in this thing together, no matter what page each of us is on in our own story. So let’s rise to the occasion and make our collective journey an incredible one.

Nancy is a registered dietitian nutritionist and wellness coach who is dedicated to bringing wellness to today’s generation of girls. She created The Wellie Project with the hope of empowering girls to take charge of their health through a journey of self-discovery. Nancy believes in a total mind, body and soul approach, and she loves experimenting with everything wellness-related. Michelle is a graduate student in the Masters of Public Health in nutrition program at UNC Chapel Hill. She is currently studying nutrition and working as a dietetic intern during the combined program. She loves coaching for Girls on the Run in her free time as well as getting in the kitchen or getting outside to be active.
